It’s been just under one year since 16-year-old Jacob Monday earned his angel wings, after being diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
Jacob, of the Albany, NY region, was a fighter. In his final months, he chose to stop all cancer treatment and focus on a bucket list of wishes, including meeting his favorite celebrities, such as Chris Pratt, and going on memorable trips with those he treasured most.
Jacob was stronger than most. And he was a hero to many. A hero, especially, to his best friend, Jack Voce.
This prom season, Jack honored Jacob in the most beautiful way by taking Jacob to prom with him.
Jacob’s mom wrote on Facebook, “Jacob Monday is going to prom!!! Love you Jack.” Jack carried with him the ashes of his best friend in his suit pocket. He held him close throughout the evening of high school celebration.
