Baby James was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at birth, and is not defined by his limitations. His parents give him every opportunity to live a normal, happy life like any other two-year-old.
On March 8, 2020, it was an unseasonably warm day in his hometown of Buffalo, NY and his parents took James out for a walk, but not using a carrier or stroller. He was able to feel the ground below his feet for the very first time.
This inspiring video of him reveals his excitement!
“James’ OT borrowed an Upsee from another child she works with for us to be able to try it out. I put it on for the first time and went outside because of how beautiful it was. You’re seeing James ‘walk’ vertically for the FIRST TIME EVER. He hasn’t stopped smiling! He keeps telling me and my wife how he was walking. In fact…I hear him right now talking about it,” father, Anthony Parisi excitedly says.
Anthony went on to say, “My wife and I try to do everything in our power to help him experience life like any other two-year-old. He can’t walk on his own, but I can strap him to my legs and help him. It allows him to see the world like you and I do, even for just a few minutes.”
James is a happy, sweet boy, and his parents credit living positively as a driving force for his constant joy, despite physical limitations.
