Hope Rises Sponsors Anti-Bullying Efforts in Honor of ‘Morgan’s Song’

Hope Rises is incredibly honored to sponsor “Musicians Band Together Against Bullying” – a benefit concert to raise crucial funding and awareness for anti-bullying efforts. The concert is taking place TONIGHT, June 8th at Goodbar on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo, NY.
It all started with Morgan – an Albany area pre-teen, who was bullied enough that she considered ending her life. Her mother reached out, asking for the world to show her daughter the love she so very much deserved.
Hope Rises jumped on board, posting an ask on our Facebook page for anyone…everyone to send cards to shower her with compassion and support.
It was not only successful, it was life-changing.
Mindy Davey, a talented musician from Buffalo, saw the Hope Rises post and felt so compelled to go above and beyond. She collected cards, gifts and arranged with Hope Rises Founder, Kate Glaser, to visit Morgan in her hometown near Albany, NY.

Mindy also wrote “Morgan’s Song”. Shown below.
A few weeks later, Mindy drove the five hours to meet Morgan, and taught Morgan how to play “Morgan’s Song” on the guitar. She now shares an unshakeable bond with Morgan, and Morgan’s mom says her daughter has a newly found positive outlook on life.

“Morgan’s Song” has recently aired on the radio, and a music video is being made to promote Mindy’s nationwide anti-bullying efforts. Mindy is set to embark on a nationwide music tour to raise funds to combat bullying.
When we asked Mindy why she is so committed to this cause, she responded:
“I was bullied relentlessly when I was growing up because of the way I dressed. I was a tomboy, comfortable in hoodies and sneakers when most girls my age were dressed much differently. I was able to escape it all because music is my outlet. But, some kids don’t have an outlet. I want to help by being their outlet – a place where they feel safe and accepted, and beautiful…just the way they are. It all started with Morgan, but it doesn’t end there.”
If you wish to support this concert for an amazing cause, head out to Goodbar on Elmwood in Buffalo, NY beginning at 8 pm. The show goes until 1 am and it’s just $5 to enter. 100% of funds raised will go back to the cause.
Hope Rises will offer a spin wheel of prizes – we hope to see you there! Thanks to our Hope Rises Community Correspondent Vilona Trachtenberg for representing our mission at this event!
Good luck, Mindy! We love you, Morgan!
