WNY for Hope Diaper and Hygiene Drive

May 6 - May 20

Hope Rises, in partnership with Every Bottom Covered and Home Beneath our Feet, is seeking your support in collecting diapers, personal hygiene items, and other wellness essentials for the under-served population of the Buffalo community.

The WNY for Hope Diaper and Hygiene Drive began in response to the horrific tragedy that occurred on May 14th, 2022 at the Tops Markets location on Jefferson Avenue. Within six days, the drive was organized to provide critical items that the families of Buffalo’s East Side were severely lacking. Now, in its fifth year, this drive has continued to be an ongoing effort of wellness and care provision for the East Side community, and has grown to elevate the message of need to surrounding neighborhoods. The community partners responsible for helping to elevate this message include: Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Western Central NY AAA, Delta Sonic, Mental Health Advocates of WNY, Hope Rises, and Ford Buffalo Stamping Plant.

Coinciding with the anniversary of the 5/14 Massacre in May, the drive will work to address diaper insecurity and hygiene poverty for families and individuals in need of these crucial resources. We are seeking community support to help collect these items and spread this message of need. For participating parishes, this can look like housing collection bins for items that Hope Rises will be responsible for picking up. It’s also encouraged to educate your congregation on its mission and the impact of their generous donations.

Along with diapers, the most critical hygiene items include:

  • Toothbrushes/Toothpaste
  • Bar soap / hand soap
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo / Conditioner
  • Female Products
  • Wipes for the elderly
  • Individually wrapped rolls of toilet paper

For those interested in participating, please contact samantha@hoperisesnews.com and we will coordinate more specific details, like collection bin drop-off logistics.
