There have been countless movies made about the holiday – Christmas miracles, Christmas wishes coming true, Christmas Angels coming to life. This story, however, isn’t pulled from the big screen or your streaming service. It takes place in Getzille and centers around a real-life, Western New York family.
If you travel down North Forest Road, you might notice a little farm stand outside your window. It carries baked goods, products from local farmers, and an incredible mission: supporting a local mom fighting cancer. The woman behind the farm stand is Jennifer Mozg, a local baker, wife, and mother fighting stage 4 bowel cancer. For the past six years, Jenn’s battle has taken her through painstaking treatments and an emotional rollercoaster. Her terminal diagnosis inspired her to start planting flowers with her husband as a way to cope with the news, and that newfound hobby took root and blossomed into something beautiful.

As her treatment continued over the years, and the expenses piled up, Jennifer was encouraged by friends and family to include more in her farm stand that could help support her through her medical journey. Her farm stand grew to include baked goods, many of which she made herself, and local goods like honey and jam. And, the community did not disappoint- with the farm stand frequently selling out. Now, six years later, with her 7 year-old son having grown alongside this battle, Jenn has received miraculous and unexpected news – She has No Evidence of Disease. Just in time for Christmas, Jennifer received a gift that she spent years hoping for.
“This type of cancer is usually Stage IV, twenty months to live, with treatment. And, I’ve pushed through for six years, but I always thought that this eventually would kill me. So, this recent scan that I had that said ‘no evidence of disease’ is an absolute miracle… it’s something the community, by supporting my farm stand, has carried me through. And it wouldn’t be possible without them.”
– Jennifer Mozg, Cancer Warrior
Though her prognosis is no longer terminal, Jennifer will continue to need consistent care and treatment to stay healthy. The farm stand will remain in business, and the profits are going towards her continued need for life support and a medical service animal. You can find the farm stand at 2559 North Forest Road, Getzville New York and connect with them on Facebook to keep up on the products she offers.
